Rita Grácio is a sociologist (PhD, Exeter University). She is currently a Post-doctoral Fellow at Lusófona University, CICANT, for the project muSEAum (FCT).

At Lusófona University she also teaches Organisational Behaviour. Previously she worked as a research assistant for two research projects, at the Centre for Social Studies (University of Coimbra), and at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa – UNL.

She also worked in science communication and management at NOVA School of Business & Economics and at the Institute of Psychology of University of Coimbra (IPCDSH-UC). She has published her research on several outlets, such as Museum International, Working with Older People, Cadernos de Arte e Antropologia, Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais, among others; and she is one of the editors for MAiA – Music and Arts in Action (University of Exeter).

Her research interests are on the sociology of culture and arts, creativity, cultural and creative industries, maritime cultural heritage, (digital) communication, sociomateriality, gender studies, intersectionality, visual culture, using mostly qualitative methodologies (interviews, ethnography, focus group, arts-based research).

She has collaborated with the filmmaker Francisca Marvão on the documentary “She is a song”, about Portuguese women rockers, debuted in the independent film festival IndieLisboa 2019.

Rita Grácio is also a poet, and she has delivered poetry readings and creative writing workshops and published in poetry maga/zines and blogs (Oficina de Poesia, Rua Larga, Debaixo do Bulcão, etc).
