YouNDigital at the MediaTrust.Lab Conference and the VIII International Congress on Cyberjournalism

On November 18-19, the University of Beira Interior hosted the final conference of the MediaTrust.Lab project, with YouNDigital researchers Inês Amaral and Maria José Brites actively participating. The event provided a platform for sharing research, where Margarida Maneta presented the communication “Bring young people closer to the journalistic process: reflections on digital newsroom from YouNDigital project”, co-authored with Maria José Brites, Marisa Torres da Silva, Lúcia Mesquita, and Mariana Müller.

Additionally, Lúcia Mesquita shared her research with the presentation “Beyond Verification: The Evolving Role of Fact-Checking Organisations in Media Literacy Education for Youth”, co-authored with Margarida Maneta and Maria José Brites.

In the same week (20-21 November), these researchers also participated in the VIII International Congress on Cyberjournalism (#8COBCIBER), held at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. This edition featured Inês Amaral, a YouNDigital researcher, as a keynote speaker discussing Platforms and Disinformation: Challenges for Journalism in the Era of Populist and Racist Algorithms. Margarida Maneta and Lúcia Mesquita also presented communications in sessions at the conference.
