MeLCi Lab Researcher Co-Authors a Groundbreaking Study on Assistive Technologies

We are thrilled to announce the publication of a new scientific article in the journal Disabilities: “International Perspectives on Assistive Technologies for Autism and Intellectual Disabilities: Findings from a Delphi Study”. Carla Sousa, a member and co-coordinator of MeLCi Lab, was a co-author of this significant research, demonstrating the lab’s commitment to advancing inclusive technologies and practices.

The study employs a Delphi method, incorporating insights from 284 experts across 31 European countries. It explores the challenges and opportunities in developing and implementing assistive technologies (ATs) to support individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities. The findings highlight the potential of ATs to enhance social inclusion and quality of life while addressing barriers such as economic, social, and political challenges.

This publication is an excellent example of international collaboration, combining expertise from academia, service providers, and industry alongside input from individuals with disabilities and their families. It reinforces MeLCi Lab’s dedication to impactful, inclusive research.
