Researcher at YouNDigital and Member of MeLCi Lab, Leads Sessions in the “Sai da Bolha” Project

The local newspaper A Voz da Póvoa recently highlighted the “Sai da Bolha” project, an initiative developed in partnership with the Póvoa de Varzim City Council. The project aimed to raise awareness among secondary school students about discrimination, hate speech, inclusion, and freedom of expression in the digital age.

Margarida Maneta, a YouNDigital project research fellow and a MeLCi Lab member, led three interactive sessions with students, encouraging them to critically analyze the influence of digital algorithms in shaping their perspectives. Participants created hashtags, infographics, posters, and videos through group activities, which will be compiled into a digital booklet as the project’s final product.

This initiative aligns with YouNDigital’s mission to explore the relationship between youth, news, digital citizenship, and MeLCi Lab’s commitment to fostering media and civic literacy. Margarida Maneta’s involvement in this project reflects the dedication of researchers to bridging academic knowledge with societal challenges and empowering young people to navigate the digital world responsibly.
