MeLCi Lab member Selma Pereira to present at Centro Científico e Cultural de Macau (CCCM) Spring Conference

MeLCi Lab member Selma Pereira will present “Conta.Me: the biographical narrative of Macau to the World,” co-authored with Professor Adérito Fernandes-Marcos (University of Saint Joseph, Macau/CIAC), at the Centro Científico e Cultural de Macau (CCCM)’s Spring Conference. Their talk is scheduled for March 15, 2025, during the “Narratives and Identities” panel.
The presentation will showcase the “Conta.Me” project, which collected audiovisual biographical narratives in Macau between 2023 and 2024. This transmedia initiative celebrates cultural diversity as a cornerstone of sustainable human development by documenting life stories that bridge generational and cultural gaps, emphasizing the Portuguese language and shared Lusophone heritage. The project’s findings highlight the transformative power of these narratives in promoting social cohesion, intercultural dialogue, and the preservation of collective memory.
The CCCM’s Spring Conferences aim to promote and disseminate research conducted by the Portuguese scientific community across various knowledge domains, emphasizing the historical and contemporary relevance of relations between Portugal and Asia. This annual event has become a significant scientific and networking gathering in Portugal, focusing on Asian Studies and East-West relations.
