MeLCi Lab Member Co-Authors Book on Game-Based Learning

Carla Sousa, a member of the MeLCi Lab, has co-edited and co-authored the book Transformative Learning Through Play: Analogue Games as Vehicles for Educational Innovation, recently published by Springer. This publication explores the potential of analogue game-based learning to create transformative educational experiences, particularly in addressing the multifaceted challenges of the Anthropocene era. The book highlights how games can serve as effective tools for fostering learning, critical thinking, and social engagement across various settings.
In addition to co-editing the entire volume, Sousa contributed significantly to two chapters: The Psychology of Analogue Game-Based Learning and Introduction to Inclusivity in Analogue Game-Based Learning: Challenges and Strategies. The first chapter investigates the psychological principles that support learning through analogue games, while the second offers practical strategies for promoting inclusivity, emphasizing game design that aligns with universal access and participation.
