FEMglocal’s PI at the 4th International Conference on Pathologies and Dysfunctions of Democracy

On March 27, the Principal Investigator of the FEMglocal – Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions research project, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) through national funds (PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021 / DOI 10.54499/PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021), Carla Cerqueira, was invited to speak at the 4th International Conference on Pathologies and Dysfunctions of Democracy in a Media Context, held at the University of Beira Interior. Her presentation, titled “Anti-gender and anti-feminist movements in the media: Where we came from, where we are, and where we are heading”, offered a critical reflection on anti-gender and anti-feminist discourse, examining its historical roots, current manifestations in the media, and future implications.

The event stood out for the high quality of its contributions and fostered a strong sense of community, collaboration, and critical engagement among scholars, researchers, and students. FEMglocal’s participation reinforced the project’s commitment to addressing contemporary threats to democracy, particularly those targeting gender equality and women’s rights in the media landscape.
