New Publication: Chapter on the Security Dimension of the Digital Silk Road

We are pleased to share that MeLCi Lab member Fernando P. L. Amorim, together with Paulo Afonso B. Duarte, António Tavares, and Nasim Mosavi, has co-authored the chapter “The Security Dimension of the Digital Silk Road: From Netpolitik to Digitalpolitik”.

The chapter is part of the forthcoming Routledge Handbook of China’s Belt and Road Initiative in Eurasia, edited by Mher D. Sahakyan and Kevin Lo, to be published in September 2025.

This contribution explores how China’s Digital Silk Road extends beyond infrastructure and connectivity, shaping new forms of geopolitical competition and security strategies. The authors trace the shift from Netpolitik to Digitalpolitik, analysing the political, economic, and security implications of China’s growing role in global digital governance.

The handbook brings together leading scholars to examine the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) from multiple perspectives, offering insights into its impact across Eurasia and beyond.

The book will be available in hardback and eBook formats from Routledge here.
