Selma Pereira Publishes Article in the Journal of Science and Technology of the Arts (JSTA)

Selma Pereira, member of the MeLCi Lab, has co-authored a new article in the Journal of Science and Technology of the Arts (JSTA), volume 17, nº 1 (2025): Creative Digital Intelligence. The paper, titled “From artisanal traditions to the digital experience: reimagining traditions through artistic creation and immersive technologies”, was written in collaboration with Adérito Fernandes-Marcos (University of Saint Joseph, Macau).
The article examines Selma Pereira’s Hands series, a body of artistic work that blends traditional textile techniques with immersive digital technologies, such as augmented reality and 3D modelling. Within the framework of post-digital aesthetics, the study reflects on the rematerialisation of intangible heritage and new forms of sensory interaction. It proposes the integration of tradition and innovation as a path to preserve and reinvent artisanal practices in contemporary artistic contexts.
The article is available in open access through JSTA.
