MeLCi Lab Researcher Presents AI-LITERATE Project in International Media Literacy Events
MeLCi Lab researcher Lucia Mesquita participated in two international events dedicated to media literacy and artificial intelligence during the week of 20–21 May, presenting the Erasmus+ project AI-LITERATE to academic, educational, and professional audiences.
On 20 May, Lucia joined Chloé Pété from the Media & Learning Association, Nicola Bruno from DataNinja, and Piotr Litxin from DEMAGOG in a webinar organised by the Media & Learning Association. The session introduced the objectives and activities of AI-LITERATE, a European project focused on strengthening AI literacy in higher education and addressing the challenges posed by generative AI and disinformation. The webinar brought together educators, researchers, and media literacy practitioners from different countries to discuss emerging approaches to responsible AI use in educational contexts.
The following day, on 21 May, Lucia presented the AI-LITERATE project at the 4th International Media Literacy Conference, organised by EducaMídia and the Instituto Palavra Aberta in Brazil. Recognised as one of the largest media literacy events in the country, the conference gathered educators, researchers, journalists, policymakers, and civil society organisations to discuss current challenges and opportunities in media and information literacy.
These two engagements provided valuable opportunities to share the project’s ongoing work, exchange ideas with international colleagues, and strengthen connections with researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of media literacy, education, and artificial intelligence.
