Carla Sousa presents GameIN research at international conferences in Porto and Cyprus

Carla Sousa, researcher at Cicant and co-coordinator at MeLCi Lab, recently participated in two major international conferences to share findings from the GameIN Project on gaming, inclusion, and neurodiversity.

From 26 to 28 June 2025, Sousa attended the Congress of the Ibero-Latin American Association of Political Psychology, held at FPCEUP, Porto, where she presented the paper “Jogar é Participar: Motivações Psicológicas para Jogar Videojogos em Pessoas com Deficiência”. The study examines the psychological motivations underlying video game play among individuals with disabilities, highlighting gaming as a means of participation and agency. More about the event

Shortly after, between 1 and 5 July 2025, she took part in the 19th European Congress of Psychology (ECP2025) in Paphos, Cyprus, where she presented two studies:

  • One examined inclusivity in the Portuguese board gaming community as a potential social trait;

  • The other focused on creativity and digital literacy among neurodivergent adults, highlighting the transformative potential of games in learning and self-expression.
