ERC hosts talk on “Media Publics and Audiences”

On September 29, the Portuguese media regulator ERC (Entidade Reguladora para a Comunicação Social) held the fourth edition of its ERConversa series, dedicated to “Media Publics and Audiences.”

The session featured Maria José Brites, coordinator of the Media Literacy and Civic Cultures Lab (MeLCi Lab), and Marisa Torres da Silva, who discussed their research on news consumption, algorithmic understanding, and the challenges journalism faces today. Brites presented findings on how young people in Portugal engage with algorithms and news.
