FEMglocal at “Deixa Ela Falar”: A Feminist Gathering on International Women’s Day

On March 8, International Women’s Day, FEMglocal participated in the event “Deixa Ela Falar” (“Let Her Speak”), a feminist gathering held at the Alcântara Library – José Dias Coelho in Lisbon. The event brought together activists, scholars, and artists to engage in critical discussions about feminism’s past, present, and future.
FEMglocal researcher Camila Lamartine contributed to the conversation as a key speaker in the first panel, alongside Stephany Lins, in a discussion moderated by Tati Pasquali. With expertise in Portuguese feminisms, feminist communication, and activism, Camila offered valuable insights, emphasizing the importance of critical reflection in feminist movements.
Organized by Movimento S.I.M.O.N.E. and supported by FEMglocal, the event also received backing from the República Portuguesa – Cultura / Direção-Geral das Artes, Câmara de Lisboa, and other cultural and academic institutions. “Deixa Ela Falar” reinforced the notion that feminism is not just a momentary trend but an ongoing and necessary struggle for social transformation.
