InfoClima workshop sessions engage Communication students in tackling climate disinformation

Two workshop sessions of the InfoClima project were held within the Public Relations Theory and Ethics and Media Responsibility courses, involving first and second-year undergraduate students from the Applied Communication programme. Sessions were facilitated by ZERO – Association for a Sustainable Earth System, with the coordination and active support of members of the MeLCi Lab, Lurdes Macedo, Maria José Brites and Teresa Sofia Castro. ZERO is a non-governmental, non-profit environmental organisation recognised as a public utility and operating in Portugal.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness of climate disinformation by encouraging a critical, hands-on approach to one of today’s most pressing issues. During the workshops, students were challenged to design communication campaigns targeting specific audiences, focusing on identifying, explaining, and countering disinformation.

Using a practice-based methodology, participants developed creative, innovative, and impactful proposals that explored how climate disinformation operates and how it can be effectively communicated to the public.
