International Conference: Digital Intimacies, Young People, and Everyday Life

The University of Padova will host the “Digital Intimacies, Young People, and Everyday Life” international conference on September 25-26, 2025. This event will unite researchers to explore how digital media shapes contemporary intimacy, transforming relationships, self-expression, and daily interactions.

From dating apps to social media, digital platforms serve as key spaces where young people negotiate privacy, visibility, and connection. The conference will critically examine how intimacy is constructed in digital environments, with topics including:

  • Digital dating, relationships, and networks of care
  • Gender identities and LGBTQIA+ communities
  • The commodification of intimacy and affective economies
  • Platforms, algorithms, and digital surveillance
  • Online abuse, privacy, and ethical challenges in research
