MeLCi Lab member’s contribution to the Black Cinema Book: 20 Years of Questions and Realisations

Selma Pereira contributed to the book Cinema Negro: 20 Years of Questions and Realizations: Homage to the Thought of Luiz Felipe de Alencastro, organised by Celso Luiz Prudente and Rogério de Almeida. The book celebrates the two decades of the International Black Cinema Exhibition (MICINE), highlighting its trajectory as a platform of visibility for representation, diversity and resistance in cinematic narratives.

This book marks 20 years of the International Black Cinema Showcase (MICINE), exploring education in African ethnic-cinematic relations. MICINE has fostered debate on representation and diversity, resisting dominant narratives while amplifying Black issues in Brazil and promoting anti-racist artistic education.
