MeLCi Lab researchers discuss digital wellbeing in schools at the DigiMig Webinar Series
Maria José Brites, coordinator of MeLCi Lab and principal investigator of the YouNDigital project, together with MeLCi Lab member and co-coordinator of the YouNDigital project, Teresa Sofia Castro, will present their research on digital wellbeing in schools at the DigiMig Webinar Series on 6 November, at 15:00 CET.
Their presentation, titled Digital well-being in schools: the example of Information and Communication Clubs, explores how non-formal school spaces can support digital citizenship among children and young people. The researchers highlight that these informal contexts act as catalysts for students’ formal education, positioning digital wellbeing as a key dimension of a good life in today’s digital society.
The presentation draws on findings from participatory webinars conducted during the 2024–2025 academic year in collaboration with Portugal’s Directorate-General for Education, as well as nine interviews with teachers from primary and lower secondary education.
The session is part of the first edition of the DigiMig Webinar Series, organised by the University of Groningen’s VIDI-funded DigiMig project, which investigates how digital technologies shape experiences of migration, belonging, and participation.
