MeLCi Lab Researchers participate in IAMCR 2025 conference

Three researchers from the MeLCi Lab are participating in the 2025 International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) conference, currently taking place in Singapore from July 13 to 17.

The conference, themed “Communicating Environmental Justice: Many Voices, One Planet,” features presentations from CICANT members Maria José Brites, Teresa Sofia Castro, and doctoral student Margarida Maneta.

Maria José Brites, Teresa Sofia Castro, and Margarida Maneta are presenting two studies on youth and digital media. Their research examines how the absence of young voices contributes to biased media perspectives and explores media education challenges in the algorithmic age, particularly regarding youth news consumption and digital citizenship.

Maria José Brites is also serving as a discussant in a Media and Education Research session on digital practices and young people, together with researcher Devina Sarwatay from the United Kingdom.
