The Future of News: Responsibility, Representation, and Literacies

On December 10, 2024, as part of the YouNDigital project initiatives, young people and journalists gathered at Universidade Lusófona – Porto to discuss the future of news. The debate centred on responsibility, representation, and literacies, highlighting the challenges of disinformation, echo chambers, and information overload.

Speakers, including journalists and students, stressed the importance of media, algorithm, and AI literacy, alongside amplifying younger voices in journalism. The event drew insights from the YouNDigital survey of 1,362 Portuguese youth, asking: “What will news look like in the future?”

The discussion emphasised that journalism must evolve while upholding responsibility and inclusivity in a digital world. Read more here.
