YouNDigital organises several events and co-coordinate workshops at the 8th National Media Education Meeting

The YouNDigital – Youth, News, and Digital Citizenship – project was involved in several initiatives during the 8th National Media Education Meeting (Encontro Nacional de Educação para os Media), held under the theme “How to Boost Digital Citizenship in the Age of AI”, with the Directorate-General for Education (DGE), the Informal Media Literacy Group (GILM), Senhora da Hora School Group, and the Matosinhos Training Centre to deliver this national event. The meeting was part of the European Year of Digital Citizenship (Council of Europe) and the Portuguese national operation 7 Days with the Media.
The initiatives involved sessions highlighting the importance of national media literacy initiatives and guiding documents for fostering active, responsible citizenship in an era shaped by algorithms. Young reporters from the Information and Communication Clubs shared their experiences, offering valuable insights into youth media participation. Six workshops and an expert panel explored AI, media, and civic engagement topics. Read more here.
Additionally, YouNDigital led one of the afternoon workshops, titled “Do You Believe Everything You See? The Role of Algorithms in Information”. The session, part of the YouNDigital & Information and Communication Clubs partnership (running since November 2024 and framed by the National Strategy for Citizenship Education), attracted around 70 in-person participants, with a similar number joining online.
