Lucia Mesquita
I am a postdoctoral researcher at CICANT – Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies, at Lusofona University, Portugal. At CICANT, I integrate the MeLCi Lab – Media Literacy and Civic Cultures Lab and the research project Youth, News and Digital Citizenship – YouNDigital (PTDC/COM-OUT/0243/2021). I also serve as a researcher at DCU’s Institute for Future Media, Democracy and Society (Fujo) at Dublin City University, Ireland, as part of the TeaMLit project – Teacher Training in Digital Education and Media – funded by the European Media and Information Fund (EMIF). I am also a research associate in the DMSO group (Digital Media and Society Observatory) at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp), Brazil. I was also an Early-Stage-Researcher in the JOLT ETN Project on ‘Harnessing Digital and Data Technology for Journalism’, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Training Network funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 at Dublin City University, Ireland. I completed my Master’s in Communication Studies, emphasising Journalism, at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP) of the University of Lisbon in Portugal. I am also a journalist, graduated from the Methodist University of São Paulo in 2001 in Brazil.
